Fatahillah Museum

Fatahillah Museum has the official name of the Jakarta History Museum is a museum located on Jalan Taman Fatahillah No. 1, West Jakarta with an area more than 1,300 square meters. The building was formerly the city hall of Batavia (Dutch: Stadhuis van Batavia) which was built in 1707-1712 at the behest of Governor-General Joan van Hoorn. The building resembles the Dam Palace in Amsterdam, consisting of a main building with two wings in the east and west as well as a sanding building that is used as an office, courtroom, and basements that are used as prisons. On March 30, 1974, the building was later inaugurated as the Fatahillah Museum. Since 2001 to 2002 the Jakarta History Museum held the Nusantara Arts Program every second and fourth week of 2003. The Jakarta History Museum focused this activity on Betawi nuances which is associated with tourism activities in the old village after the third week of each month. In addition, since 2001 the Museum of History of Jakarta annually holds seminars on the existence of the Jakarta History Museum both nationally and internationally. The seminars that have been held include seminars on the existence of museums in terms of various aspects and international seminars on the architecture of museum buildings. To reconstruct past history, especially the court events against people who were found guilty, a court theater is performed in which the community can improvise the trial and soul of the age in the 17th century.

The objects that can be found in this museum include the history of Jakarta, the relics of the Tarumanegara and Pajajaran relics, the results of archaeological excavations in Jakarta, antique furniture from the 17th to 19th centuries, which are a blend of European style, the People's Republic of China and Indonesia. There are also ceramics, pottery, and stone inscriptions. These collections are in various spaces, such as the Jakarta Prehistory Room, Tarumanegara Room, Jayakarta Room, Fatahillah Room, Sultan Agung Room, and Batavia Room.

There are also various collections of Betawi culture, numismatics, and pedicabs. Even now the statue of the God of Hermes is also placed (according to Greek mythology, is a god of luck and protection for the merchants) which was located at the intersection of Harmoni and Si Jagur cannon which is considered to have magical powers. In addition, at the Fatahillah Museum there is also a former underground prison that was once used in the Dutch colonial era.
